a few notes about this:
* we saw the idea in a book and totally copied. their door was metal and we changed to wood because of the price but also to match our other exterior doors. we have tiny windows and felt this would bring in lots of natural light.
* i know that hardware would totally drive some people nuts hanging down, we decided we wouldn't mind. also, we had to opt out of a pendant light over our table to accommodate this, but we decided that was ok too.
* someday we hope to have a screened in porch that this door will open into making it much more practical.
* we aren't worried about curtains or privacy because there are woods behind our home!

Paint the metal a matte white to match the ceiling and I'll bet it is less noticeable in pics.
Also I'm betting someone rides their bike in the house as well... i look forward to testing it out.
